Giving Yourself To Christ!

You sort of know about Jesus, you may have read a little of the Bible or recited The Lord’s Prayer, you may even have been to church over the years. All good things, but the experience of you looking may have left you confused and uncertain as to what comes next and what exactly being a “Christian” entails or how you go about becoming one. Something stops you from asking questions because you don’t want to look stupid or the “newbie”.

However, you are thinking about “God”, “Jesus”, “The Holy Spirit” (The Big Boss!) and you are hungry and thirsty to know more, after all, Jesus is the “Bread of Life” and the “Living Water” (John 6:35). You may even have been asked or heard; “Have you given yourself to Christ?”, but what exactly does “giving yourself to Christ” mean!? Especially for “me”, what do “I” have to do?

Well, there are words to say initially in the form of a prayer in order to give yourself to Christ and achieve salvation, but it’s ultimately about you inviting Jesus to walk beside you and having a positive and personal relationship with the Father (God), the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit, repenting of your sins, declaring death to your old self and becoming “a new creation in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17) with the Holy Spirit as your ever present “Helper” (John 14:16).

“For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

– Matthew 7:8

So, if you have never thought yourself as a Christian, or, would like to renew your commitment to living as a follower of Christ Jesus, please say the following prayer that invites God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit into your life and when you say the following prayer – really mean it and believe it with all your heart, mind, body and soul and want to do it by walking in Faith, Belief and Trust from this moment on with Jesus by your side.

Father God, thank you that you love me.

Jesus, thank you that you took on all of my sins, died and rose again for me.

I am sorry for when I have not done the right thing.

Please help and fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can have a personal relationship with you and live life as a follower of you.

In Jesus name I pray.

Amen.

Welcome, you have now given yourself to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!

You are now a child of God, your journey is just beginning, so step out in Faith Belief and Trust with Jesus by your side. Always remember that God doesn’t send the storms, but he does send our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ, to walk with you. And as your journey continues on, with all of its ups, downs and everything in-between, the difference is that now you will never be alone as Jesus will always be with you

“This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

– Joshua 1:9
